FDG’s charity work continues with its staff donating £100 to support Transaid’s life-saving road safety and healthcare programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. From the 21st – 30th September 2018 42 volunteers from UK transport & logistics industry will be taking part in a 450 kms, 5 days consecutive cycling in Zambia to raise money. FDG is supporting Nigel Base from the SMMT.
Russell Fowler, Chairman & CEO, says “I know well Nigel’s route and I take my hat off to him doing the trek – what a great effort for a great cause and we hope he avoids the elephants. We’re a small company but staff soon rallied around and dipped into their pockets to help”.
Transaid is a charity set up to tackle death and injury on the roads through professional driver training and provide access to essential health care services for remote communities.
It has been reported that 1.25 million road traffic deaths occur every year, amongst those aged are 15-29 years. Since Transaid started their work they have trained over 151 instructors and 28,980 drivers.
FuelDefend Global has spent over £15,000 on charitable efforts over the past twelve months. “It’s the least we can do to help the less fortunate” says Fowler.
